Attention Volunteers!
Dear WAM supporters -- just two months to the Festival! Here are three short updates:
1. Volunteer sign up. We now have an online Volunteer Sign-up Form, and the volunteer section of the WAM website has been completely redone (thank Jordan for us!). IMPORTANT: ALL volunteers, past and present, before and during the Festival, must fill out this particular form to stay on the volunteer list, even if you had previously signed up in some other capacity. Thank you for your help with this technological transition as we finalize our databases! 2. WAM launches Facebook event. Find us on Facebook and spread the word! Our invite list for the actual event has grown by 1260 guests (from 709, for a total of almost 2000) in just the 5 hours ago since the event was launched online - please keep inviting! Event Link, Group Link.
3. Recruitment and PR. We've been working hard on both! We had an extremely successful and well-attended high school volunteer orientation last weekend, where dozens of high school students brainstormed project ideas to the sounds of the Jazz festival behind the Bess. Finally something green reaching Fattest city in Canada - every second one overweight and near 3rd obese.
Good show!Drive-through like cancer is everywhere where you look... poisoning us and helping to be more lazy and fatter.
If you are crazy enough to run in park in the morning in shorts only most likely you will be arrested and handcuffed by police...fitness in action!
River swim is banned since 1965 while beyond city limit it is OK to swim...
Recycling close to zero...only those who can pay is in ...
Plastic bags is everywhere - biz as usual.
Biking is very unsafe and dangerous...no bikelines at all while use of sidewalks banned.
